8 Essential Tools You Need to Keep in your Toolbox

If you are a DIY enthusiast and enjoy building and fixing things around the house, there is no doubt that you own a toolbox. Even if you don’t perform these activities, having a handy toolkit around the house is essential.

There are a few tools that should be present in all toolboxes. The following are some tools that one finds in a toolbox.

Hammer

A hammer is the most common item found in a toolbox. It is for putting nails in the wall and taking them out. Moreover, if you like making wood structures, a hammer is an essential tool you must have.

Screwdriver

A standard screwdriver is a must-have, and it should be readily available in a house. Some common screwdriver heads include Phillips, flathead, hex, etc. You can find a basic screwdriver kit at your local hardware store.

Wrench

A wrench comes in handy with nuts and bolts. An adjustable wrench is available, and it will come in use when you are putting together furniture, fixing a bike, or other equipment.

Cutter

A cutter is another basic tool that should be available in your toolbox. You can use it for a variety of purposes, including cutting wires. However, be careful when using a cutter as it has very sharp edges. Make sure to wear gloves when handling a sharp tool, such as a cutter.

Measuring tape

You can find a variety of measuring tapes in the market. However, a standard measuring tape is sufficient for a toolbox. A measuring tape is used for various purposes. Whether you want to measure the dimensions of furniture or want to ensure that the wall hangings are parallel to the ground, a measuring tape will help you.

Sandpaper

Sandpaper helps in smoothing down the edges of the wood. If you want to paint furniture or your wall, sandpaper will come in handy. You can use it for other purposes around the house. Sandpaper comes in different grit levels. When using sandpaper, always wear a mask.

Pliers

A variety of different pliers are essential in a toolbox. For instance, you can use a plier to take out nails. You can also use it to hold down a nail as you hammer it into the wall. A basic set of pliers includes flat nose pliers, bent nose pliers, needle nose pliers, and slip-joint pliers.

Pop rivet

A pop rivet aids in attaching pieces together, such as wood, plastic, and metal. Pop rivet tools are of two types, which include a manual rivet and a power rivet tool. You may not require a pop rivet tool in the house. But if you want one, you can buy a standard, manual pop rivet tool. You can find a range of pop rivet tools at Sydney Tools.

Conclusion

Having a toolbox equipped with necessary items can save you a lot of trouble when it comes to everyday chores involving electrical and mechanical equipment in the house. However, you should exercise caution and keep your toolbox safe from the reach of children.
