The current portable speaker list in India includes three smart speakers in various price ranges, as well as seven Bluetooth-enabled portable speakers. We’ve selected speakers from a variety of well-known audio manufacturers.

Sony has two speakers, Marshall has one, JBL, UE, BoAt, Soundcore has one, while Xiaomi, Amazon, and Google each have one smart speaker. The current list is organized in descending order by price tag.

What is the difference between a Bluetooth audio transmitter and a Bluetooth audio receiver?

A Bluetooth audio transmitter is a device that can wirelessly transfer a signal from an audio source. They’re useful if your television or game system doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth connectivity. They’re also one of the more affordable options for installing wireless headphones in your home. Transmitters just transmit the signal; you do not need to purchase a pair of headphones to use them. This means that if you already possess a pair of Bluetooth headphones, they’re probably going to work.

Marshall Kilburn II

Marshall Kilburn II is an excellent choice for individuals who want to bring a portable speaker to an outdoor party. It’s a follow-up to the best-selling predecessor. You receive a well-rounded sound and a gorgeous classic amp-inspired appearance. While the bass might be a touch muddy at times, it’s terrific for performing guitar songs, and the Kilburn II’s mobility makes it ideal for travelling. However, because it weighs 2.49 kilogrammes, you can feel the weight.

The Kilburn II outperforms its predecessor in terms of sound quality. Because it has multi-directional sound and backfiring tweeters, the portable speaker is ideally suited for festivals and gatherings. The bass and treble controls let you customise the sound to your liking. If you’re considering purchasing this speaker, chances are you enjoy rock music, which the Kilburn II shines at. However, if you’re a basshead or a hip-hop fan, you could notice a slightly murky sound.

With its classic design and portable feel, the Marshall Kilburn II sticks out from the rest, yet it all comes at a premium price tag. If you have the funds and enjoy throwing outdoor parties, this is a good option.

JBL Charge 4

JBL is a quite a well-known audio brand, particularly in the wireless Bluetooth market. While the JBL Charge 4 isn’t as significant advance over the previous generation Charge 3, it is still one of the best affordable wireless speakers available. If you enjoy bass music, you will enjoy the base selection here.

The speaker comes in a variety of colour options. With a weight of 965 grammes, the JBL Charge 4 is slightly bulky, but if that doesn’t concern you, it should be at the top of your shopping list. Because the JBL Charge 4 is a directional speaker, sound emanates from the side with the JBL logo. The Charge 4 outperforms the Charge 3 in terms of performance thanks to its balanced output. Playing music at 50% volume in a medium-sized room is more than adequate to fill the space with sound.

The speaker is extremely loud for inside use at maximum volume, but the extra volume is welcome in noisy areas like the beach. It’s also IP7X rated, so you may submerge it or dust it.

Nest Audio by Google

Google’s smart speaker is the first on the list. The Google Nest Audio smart speaker is a significant upgrade over the Google Home smart speakers. In fact, this is the only smart speaker that resembles a speaker in person. While Google promised improved sound quality than the home speakers, the Nest Audio fails to offer the performance boost we expected.

However, because to the strong microphones and clear speech output, it performs admirably as a smart speaker, and it’s certainly adequate for listening to background music. The Nest audio speaker is 75 percent louder than the Google Home and has 50 percent more bass. The Nest Audio sounds great; therefore, the overall performance is good. The bass is present and provides a firm foundation without becoming overpowering. However, when compared to headphones like the JBL Charge 4, which give substantially superior sound quality, it isn’t the best. The Nest Audio performs admirably as a smart speaker. The voice assistant is pretty loud and clear, and even when you’re not close to the speaker, you can hear it clearly. Despite the loud music and other noise in the room, the three microphones did a superb job of picking up our voice. It’s also very important to note that this speaker is not designed for outdoor use because it must be always plugged into a power source. The Nest Audio is designed to be used indoors. The Nest Audio is sufficient for a kitchen or a bedroom, but it lacks the volume to fill a larger space.

Echo (Amazon) (2020)

The design of Amazon’s fourth-generation Echo smart speaker has been updated. It has a spherical form that distinguishes it from other smart speakers. It comes in three elegant colours: black, blue, and white. From afar, the Amazon Echo resembles a miniature football. Amazon has given the new Echo a fabric grille and a light ring around the base to make it look prettier. Four microphones are built inside the smart speaker. Alexa will be your voice assistant, just as with other Amazon smart products. Echo will now provide superior audio that is powered by Dolby. There’s also a button which turns off the microphone, which is a nice touch for privacy. While it may not have the finest sounding speaker, the Echo boasts 2x faster voice processing thanks to features like a built-in Zigbee smart home hub and a new AZ1 neural edge processor.

The BoAt Stone 1400 is the company’s cheap Bluetooth speaker with power-packed features and specs. BoAt is one of India’s fastest-growing audio brands. The BoAt Stone 1400 has a 30W sound output and a battery life of up to 7 hours. On the top of the speaker are additional easy-to-use control buttons. There are two tweeters and two woofers in the sound system. It’s also water-resistant (IPX5), and it comes with a handle to make it easier to carry. It has a tough construction as well as Bluetooth 4.2 wireless connectivity. The speaker is weatherproof and weighs 1.8 kg.

SRS-XB13 (Sony SRS-XB13)

The Sony SRS-X13 is one of Sony’s most economical and recent introductions in India, specifically designed for those on a tight budget who would like to buy a portable speaker from Sony. The sound quality isn’t the finest in the segment, and the poor call quality, limited maximum volume, and lengthy charge time are all deterrents. That isn’t to say that the Sony SRS-XB13 is a substandard product. On the plus side, you get a very portable design, and the SRS-sound XB13’s quality is significantly better balanced than it was in previous years. It also excels in terms of battery life, lasting up to 16 hours on a single charge.
