7 Streaming Devices Every Cord-cutter Needs

Old tech is becoming obsolete as the advancements in technology are increasing day by day. People are forgoing the old norms of cable TV. Internet is available in every household these days and there are many devices out there that let you stream videos on your TV through the internet. You need at least one of the following streaming devices if you want to enjoy all of the latest TV shows and online videos from different sources such as Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and Disney+. You get more from the internet for the price you pay and you can pay what you want by just subscribing to the streaming platforms that you stream and when you add something as dependable and affordable as Mediacom internet pricing in the equation, it will still probably be less than what you are already paying for your cable subscription.

Here are some of the amazing streaming device options of which you need at least one of if you want to enjoy the online entertainment video platforms.

#1. Apple TV 4K (5th Gen.)

For those people who are already in the Apple Ecosystem, it is one of the parts of that same ecosystem. It supports an A10X fusion processor which helps it connect easily to other apple products. If you have other Apple devices you can sync up all the login info from your pre-owned devices. All of the movies and TV shows that you have bought using iTunes will be available on your Apple TV. It offers compatibility with Dolby Vision to give a great HDR experience. It has a flexible upconversion meaning non 4K content is upscaled to 4K and the quality of the video content is improved. All of your pre-owned videos will be made available and upscaled to 4K for free. The device has voice-command features that are intuitive. A smooth interface packs all the features into a nice bunch and offers to its viewer. It is an expensive device like all the rest of Apple products and costs around 180 USD.

#2. Amazon Fire TV Cube

Amazon Fire TV Cube has a lot of voice assistant features in it. You can have Alexa change channels for you or switch to a different source. If you are already familiar with amazon’s Alexa then this device will be quite easy and fun to use on the daily. The Cube has excellent 4K and HDR quality with an intuitive and fast interface. Multiple input ports are ranging from HDMI to even a cable input (if you still don’t want to cut the cord). The flexibility of having a lot of devices connected to the TV is an amazing feature to have. The Amazon Fire TV Cube costs around 100 USD

#3. Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K

If you want a stripped-down version of the cube then Fire TV Stick 4K provides all the must-have features of the cube. It has Alexa the voice assistant and supports 4K and HDR content as well. But all the connectivity options from the input ports of the cube are missing in the Fire TV Stick. If you are under a budget the fire stick is going to cost you under 40 USD.

#4. Roku Ultra

Roku Ultra is a good alternative to the Amazon Fire TV Cube and is works with the Alexa voice assistant feature as well as the Google assistant. It has great wireless connectivity. It has a headphone jack and comes with JBL headphones out of the box so you can listen privately. A remote finder feature so you never lose your remote control.

This is a slightly slower version of the Roku Ultra with no USB ports or headphone jacks. This is the best feature-rich streaming device most of the features as its Ultra counter-part at a considerably lower price.

#5. Google Chromecast

If you don’t yet own a 4K TV and are just looking for something inexpensive to connect to your TV then Chromecast is the best option out there. You can use your phone, laptop, or your tablet to stream video on your TV wirelessly. Most of the new TV sets are coming out with Chromecast pre-installed but if you have an older TV and you want to stick with it then Chromecast will put new life into the features of your TV. Like the Apple TV Chromecast jells well in Google ecosystem as well. It has support for Google Assistant and Google smart home devices. The Chromecast costs around 40 USD.

Google Chromecast’s upgraded version is available for 4K TVs. It works the same as the Chromecast but has added features such as 4K streaming and support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos Surround Sound.
